About Sheri Lynn Photography

I think one of the most important parts of any portrait session is a client feeling comfortable with and trusting their photographer. So let me introduce myself…

Photography was never the plan. In fact, I didn’t even pick up a camera until 2017. But something just made sense the moment I did. Creative projects have always helped me regain energy whenever I was feeling weighed down, and now I am directing that creative energy towards helping others capture amazing moments that will tell their story for generations to come.

With a BA and MA in Communications Studies from Ball State University (#chirpchirp), one of my strengths is really getting to know the person on the other side of the lens to help them share who they are with every click. I want to know who you are, and to celebrate your joy! New mom? Let’s chat about what a world changing experience motherhood is! Senior getting ready to graduate high school? Tell me what your next chapter will look like, I am ready to cheer you on! New puppy? I’ll bring treats. I want you to be as excited as I am about your session, because this is your time to shine!

I am a wife, mother, aunt, sister, daughter, and friend. Every role in life has helped to develop who I am as a person and a photographer.

I take my creamer with a splash of coffee. I’m always up for a fun cocktail and can’t turn down anything chocolate.

And I’m excited to get to know you!

My Favs & Raves

Cocktail.

Espresso Martinis.

Even if i misspell those words every time.

Meal.

Mashed Potatoes.

If I could have an entire plate of them every meal, I would do it.

The epitome of comfort food.

Product.

Turbie Twist.

I made fun of the concept originally. Now I own multiple and never travel without one.

Vacation.

New Orleans.

The live music, culture, art, and history are beautiful. I can’t wait to go back.

Me & My Guys

I married Kyle in November of 2018 on the only snowy day of that month. I fell hard for him in college, though it took him a little while to notice me. And then it took a little while longer for me to be brave enough to say hi to slowly become friends. And then it took even longer for stars to align and our paths to cross again post college so that he could realize what I already knew. But through all those years, my college roommates had always known him as “the guy Sheri’s too afraid to talk to but thinks would give great hugs. Like a scary teddy bear.” Now if that’s not a love story…

In 2019 (January 3rd at 6am to be exact) we found out we would be welcoming a baby to our world. We spent the next 9 months in a whirlwind of preparation and Googling too many things. In September we welcomed our baby boy, Hatcher, into our lives. Nothing has slowed down since.

In April 2023 we welcomed a second son to our family! Cal took the world by storm and is a true tank. If you’re worried about me keeping up with your kids, believe me I get it!

Bitt-2.jpg

And what kind of mama would I be if I didn’t include our Bitty! I adopted Bitty from a rescue I was interning at in 2009 when he was 10 weeks old. He’s a forever puppy, meaning everyone thinks he’s only a few years old, but in reality he’s an old man these days. I worked in animal rescue for three years, at one point taking on the role of Interim Executive Director. I’ve got a huge heart for animals because of my experiences during that time and am grateful this pup was apart of that chapter of life. He’s seen me through the good and the bad!

When it comes to photography…

Gear.

I shoot with a Nikon Z6ii and Nikon D750. I typically use a 50mm or 35mm on my camera as I love shooting with a prime lense.

I also typically have my trusty pig with me for family sessions. Intrigued?

Time & Location.

Hidden dirt paths where the golden hour glows will always be my favorite time and place for a session. This means typically the first two hours after sunrise or two hours before sunset.

Have a favorite spot? Let’s capture it.

Session Types.

I focus on family, extended family, lifestyle and senior sessions.

I particularly love working with little kids and all the spunk they bring to a session. I usually leave a session tired, but so excited to get home to see what we all captured!
